le chantemerle building

Nyon

On the outskirts of Nyon, in the heart of an area that combines residential space and industrial buildings, the Chantemerle project responds to a major social challenge: access to home ownership for atomized families.

For this building, it was therefore important to offer small units for sale, designed for these families. The building comprises 16 units, including 8 studios and 8 3-room apartments.
The architecture of Chantemerle is designed to minimize the loss of space. The built-up area of the plot is therefore used to give the dwellings as much space as possible, by increasing the gross floor area.
Inside, the same desire to save space is paramount: every perspective has been designed with this in mind; the play of diagonals and transparencies also reinforces the feeling of space.
The building's reinforced concrete load-bearing structure is balanced by wood-frame perimeter walls clad in contemporary anthracite rendering.
On the facade, balconies, eaves, glazing frames and slab heads combine anthracite with wood and bronze tones to warm up the ensemble and create a welcome rhythm.
At Chantemerle, the emphasis is on green spaces and community living. The grounds surrounding the building feature centuries-old cedars, private gardens, a play area for children and vegetable gardens for the building's residents.
Soft mobility is also given pride of place, with dedicated access for pedestrians and cyclists.
The Chantemerle project is designed to meet the highest energy requirements. The photovoltaic panels on the roof cover the entire energy needs of the residents, while the surplus electricity is fed back into the local public grid.
