Der Ausbau des Flughafens st\u00f6\u00dft jedoch auf erhebliche geografische und st\u00e4dtebauliche Einschr\u00e4nkungen. Der Kanton Genf, der bereits einer der am dichtesten besiedelten Kantone der Schweiz ist, verf\u00fcgt nur \u00fcber wenig Bauland. Diese Situation versch\u00e4rft die Wohnungskrise mit einer Leerstandsquote von nur 0,37 %. Die st\u00e4dtische Verdichtung steht daher im Mittelpunkt des politischen Interesses, st\u00f6\u00dft jedoch auf Interessenkonflikte bez\u00fcglich der Erhaltung von Landwirtschaftsfl\u00e4chen und der Stadtplanung.<\/p>\n

Gleichzeitig er\u00f6ffnen technologische Fortschritte im Verkehrswesen, insbesondere die Verbreitung von eVTOLs (Elektrofahrzeuge mit senkrechtem Start und senkrechter Landung), neue Perspektiven. Diese Flugzeuge k\u00f6nnten die st\u00e4dtische Mobilit\u00e4t revolutionieren, indem sie die Abh\u00e4ngigkeit von gro\u00dfen Flughafeninfrastrukturen verringern. Ein Konzept f\u00fcr einen Vertiport (vertikaler Flughafen) k\u00f6nnte die derzeitige Infrastruktur ersetzen und bis zu 6,6 km\u00b2 Land f\u00fcr innovative Stadtprojekte freimachen. Bis 2070 sieht ein radikales Umgestaltungsszenario vor, dass der Flughafen in eine gro\u00dfe Gr\u00fcnfl\u00e4che umgewandelt wird, in der acht multifunktionale Wolkenkratzer inmitten eines Stadtwaldes integriert werden. Diese vertikalen T\u00fcrme w\u00fcrden Wohnungen, B\u00fcros, Gesch\u00e4ftsr\u00e4ume und kulturelle Einrichtungen miteinander verbinden. Jedes Geb\u00e4ude w\u00fcrde nach den Grunds\u00e4tzen der \u00f6kologischen Nachhaltigkeit gestaltet werden, mit begr\u00fcnten Terrassen, Regenwasserauffangsystemen und recycelten Baumaterialien.<\/p>\n

Dieser Ansatz zielt darauf ab, Urbanisierung und Natur in Einklang zu bringen, indem eine \"Schwammstadt\" geschaffen wird, die in der Lage ist, Regenwasser nachhaltig zu verwalten und st\u00e4dtische W\u00e4rmeinseln zu reduzieren. Die sanfte Mobilit\u00e4t w\u00fcrde durch Fahrradwege und unterirdische Transportsysteme, die die T\u00fcrme miteinander verbinden, gef\u00f6rdert.<\/p>\n
